Hi, I’m Calum Duell.
I’m a singer-songwriter from Aberystwyth, Wales. Depending on how you found me, you might know me by two different names: I perform my cover gigs under the moniker Duellca, but I write and perform my original material simply as Calum Duell.
Music is in the blood—my dad was the original keyboard player for Think Floyd, so I grew up surrounded by it. I decided pretty early on that this was the only path for me. I left school at 16 to gig full-time, cutting my teeth in pubs, clubs, and festivals across the UK. I spent years training, taking inspiration from the greats until I found my own sound—a sweet spot between challenge and control.
Since then, the journey has taken me to some surreal places. I’ve shared stages with Chesney Hawkes and had the privilege of performing for Robert Plant. (One of my career highlights is still my 21st birthday, where Mr. Plant attended after I played for him on his 65th birthday and I had It Bites’ Francis Dunnery play live).
Beyond the stage, I’ve recorded in legendary spaces like Strongroom Studios and Pete Townshend’s barge. I've worked with top-tier producers including Nick Tauber (Def Leppard, Marillion) and Myles Clarke (The Who, The 1975), as well as musicians who play for the likes of Paolo Nutini, Steely Dan, and Queen. My original tracks have even found their way onto radio stations and licensing deals globally.
I write constantly—there are about 2,000 songs in the catalog now. I’m drawn to lyrics that explore duality—fire and water, light and dark—and I pull a lot of inspiration from movies and dreams (like my Stranger Things-themed track, "Find Your Way Home").
I’m eager to play more original shows as Calum Duell this year, while continuing to bring the energy as Duellca. Keep an eye on my social media handles for updates on both the album and upcoming gigs.
